Culture Watch - Exposing Sex, Violence, and Language in the Media

Folks, I have already went off about this below. There has been a new bill pushed through the house, I think, and there were comments made about the future of regulation and media. Take a moment and write to whomever you feel appropriate. Remember the squeaky wheel gets the most grease.

CNN.com - FCC rejects complaint involving 'Angel' - Feb 25, 2005

It's nice to know that there are two sides two every story. In this one you have a government organization that was formed to regulate the interference between radio waves and a conservative family rights group. Read the excerpts from this complaint. Heavy breathing is sexually offensive?? What about the Olympics? Those sprinters might as well be porn stars. These people have a spot on their web regarding the most graphic material of the week and it spotlights shows like CSI. I guess science scares the people behind these groups. By the way if the material is so offensive why have a video file on your site showing it? YOU LIKE TO WATCH. Since we are talking about morally correct, isn't posting a video of a copyrighted show without the express consent of said copyright holder illegal, you moralphile? And who are these Family Rights group? I didn't commission them to enforce their moral right on me! Do you mean to tell me that with a few hundred motivated people you can change the definition of decency? Outstanding! Maybe I'll get a few friends of mine together and we can somehow counter this movement. But then wouldn't we look like perverts?? Has anyone watched TV outside of this country?? Nudity is embraced and dealt with as a natural and real thing and somehow entire societies survive watching it. I mean really, don't show Billy sex on TV because he might emulate it?? My dog emulates it on my leg and has never watched The O.C. Quit fighting this intangible enemy and parent your kids, thousands of teen mothers can't be wrong.

Is Anyone Else Worried About Iran And N. Korea???

I'm sorry if maybe I have missed something, but it seems to me that the current administration has overlooked the fact that there are a few nuclear bloomers as of late despite the best efforts of the president and his staff. I guess before you go pointing fingers and labeling people as part of some sinister yet intangible graph you'd better have a plan as to what can be done. And by the way, for the second time since you've been elected your plan hasn't worked but you refuse to acknowledge that. You refuse to look at alternative plans. How can you possible think this pig-headedness is the right path? Multi-lateral talks. You said it with a little smirk on your face like you thought it up and it was the only way to go. Well, it hasn't worked. What now. Multi-lateral talks again? Brilliant.

Google Maps

For those of you who are always on the road the web is a great place to get maps and driving directions. The better sites include exit numbers and alternative routes. Well Google Maps is a new service in beta provided by the brilliant folks at Google. The interface is fresh and stays crisp with relatively low load times. Take a look and let me know what you think.

Congress proposes tax on all Net, data connections | CNET News.com

The following article needs to get a bit of attention. Despite all the chain email regarding a tax on email and data connections this is an issue that is one tax "option" that the senate is looking at. Personally I feel that throttling the internet and it's services sets a bad precedent for a nation that is publicly pushing broadband and connectivity.
